Vizsla
The adorable Vizsla
Country of Origin: Hungary

The Vizsla is a lean, muscular, medium size dog. They are golden rust in
color and have long, thin ears that are rounded at the ends. They are 21 to
24 inches in height, weigh 50 to 65 pounds and live approximately 12 to 14
years!

The Vizsla is a working dog whose original purpose was hunting, pointing
and retrieving game. Though originally bred to hunt, their friendly, out-going,
and affectionate nature has turned them into popular, loving, family
companions.

The Vizsla is not a dog who likes to be alone. They desire to be close to their
“people” at all times and they also need a
LOT of exercise! Daily exercise which
includes free, off-leash running will allow this breed to burn off energy and stay
healthy and happy. The Vizsla is not the breed for you if you consider yourself to
be a couch potato! If not exercised enough, this breed can become bored and
possibly destructive (say goodbye to your favorite pair of shoes!).

Eager to please, the Vizsla responds well to firm, patient and positive
training. This breed can be very sensitive, therefore, does not respond
well to loud or harsh training techniques. Patience and kindness go far
when training this intelligent dog.

If properly socialized as a puppy, the Vizsla gets along very well with
other animals. However, it is important to note that due to his hunting
background, this breed will often chase smaller animals. If you have
small dogs, cats or other pets (such as rabbits) you may want to keep
this fact in mind.
The Vizsla’s coat is smooth, short and golden rust in color. It requires
minimal care. A good brushing once a week should do the trick! They
are generally healthy dogs, however, they can suffer from hip
dysplasia and certain blood disorders.
Very energetic!
If you are an active individual who enjoys exercise such as walking a hiking, then the Vizla may be the dog for you! This
affectionate, loving, friendly and beautiful breed is perfect for out-going individuals who love their dogs and have plenty of time
to train and properly exercise them.
Though the Vizla can be clingy and demanding, they are very intelligent dogs...willing to please their owners. If you would
