Featured Dog Treat Recipe Pawlicious Pumpkin Carrot Cookies |
Simon |
Meet Simon...our featured dog! Simon is two years old and lives in New York City. Due to Simon's lack of athleticism, city life really agrees with him. However, don't let his lazy ways fool you! Simon, like most dogs, truly enjoys long walks... especially in Central Park. Simon's favorite food is chicken and he adores his stuffed rabbit toy (he takes it with him every where he goes!). Simon, thanks for being our featured dog! You are as cute as can be and we love you...even if you are a couch potato! If you would like your dog to be featured on Bunny Roo Beagle, please send an email to: kathy@bunnyroobeagle.com - Thanks! |

Pawlicious Pumpkin Carrot Cookies! |
Ingredients: 1 Cup of Wheat Flour 1 Cup of Brown Rice Flour 1 Cup of Canned (or fresh) Pumpkin 1 Egg 1 Tablespoon of Carrot Baby Food 2 Tablespoons of Molasses Dash of Cinnamon Egg Whites (optional) Directions: Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees In a medium bowl mix the egg, pumpkin, baby food, molasses and cinnamon. Blend well. Next, slowly add the flour (both rice and wheat). Mix until a nice dough forms (use your hands if you wish...I did!). If the dough is too sticky, feel free to add more wheat flour. Next, put some flour on a cutting board and roll out a small amount of dough ( 1/4 inch thickness is ideal). Cut out cookies using a pumpkin cookie cutter. Place the cookies on an un-greased cookie sheet. The cookies may be placed close together as they do not expand much as they cook. If you wish, brush each cookie with egg white. This will give each cookie a glaze (and it also tastes good!). Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the bottoms begin to turn a golden brown. Cool completely before serving! Store in an airtight container. After two or three days, freeze uneaten cookies! Enjoy! |

What is Catnip? |
Right about now you are probably wondering why I am writing about ferrets...after all, this website is mostly about the importance of dog and cat adoption (as well as YUMMY dog treat recipes!). Well, my dog and cat loving friends, I thought I would let you know that there are many homeless ferrets in the world and yes, they too deserve forever loving homes! Just as you can adopt a dog or cat…you can also adopt a ferret! Thankfully, there are ferret rescue groups that take in abandoned and neglected ferrets. For example, Rocky's Ferret Rescue was established not only to help ferrets in need but to also educate the public about this adorable and interesting animal! The Ferret Rescue and Halfway House which is located in Martinsville, Indiana, has been helping ferrets find new homes for many years. In fact, their shelter can hold up to 100 ferrets if necessary (now that's a lot of ferrets!). If you would like to learn more about Ferrets be sure to visit the Ferret Rescue and Halfway House website…it is very interesting and is loaded with information and pictures! Though ferrets are adorable and yes, a lot of fun, it is very important that you do your homework BEFORE buying or adopting! Just as dogs and cats are huge commitments…ferrets are too! Ferrets, like other animals, need food, shelter, medical care and of course, lots of love, attention and play time! If you want a ferret but are not certain if they are the pet for you, please read "Things to Consider BEFORE Getting a Ferret!" In the meantime, check out the adorable ferret pictures below…so cute! |
