The Basset Hound is an affectionate, friendly, good natured dog who is naturally mild and well
behaved. They are strong pack animals and love being the center of attention.

The Basset is fun loving and gets along well with other dogs. The breed has a very strong hunting
instinct and will roam forever if allowed. They have a low to moderate activity level but don't let
those short legs fool you, daily walks are a must! The Basset Hound is a medium sized, heavy
boned dog with a large head that is covered with loose wrinkled skin. They have large droopy
eyes, are approximately 14 inches in height and weigh 50 to 65 pounds.

The Basset Hound is known to be a stubborn dog. Therefore, training can be difficult. This dog
needs a very patient yet consistent trainer! They are wonderful family pets and get along well with
children. Bassets do best as country dwellers (as they love to roam) however, they do just as well
in the city as long as they get their daily walks.

These dogs do NOT like to be alone and are known to howl until company arrives. The Basset
Hound is a dog of great character. They are simply adorable and make wonderful companions! If
