The Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular companion dogs in the United States. They are
very intelligent dogs often used as rescue workers, detectives and service animals. They are
hunting companions as well.

The Labrador is medium to large in size and quite muscular. They have broad heads, a black or
brown nose, and short, triangular drop ears. Most Labs are 21 to 24 inches in height and weigh 55
to 85 pounds. Labradors come in several colors including: yellow, black, brown or chocolate.

Labradors are very happy, social dogs. They are even tempered and love people. They are
wonderful family pets as they get along very well with children. The Lab requires an active owner
because they love to run and play. They can adjust to either city or country living as long as they
get their proper amount of exercise and play time.
