Beagle
Seymour
Last summer, Rachel and Simon saw an ad on Craigs list. The ad contained a picture of a Beagle
that was available for adoption at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina. The good
news was that Rachel and Simon both wanted a dog…the bad news was that the Beagle in the ad
was scheduled to be euthanized the very next day if he wasn’t adopted! Luckily, with TWO hours to
spare, Rachel and Simon arrived at the shelter. When they first saw the Beagle, he was shaking
and scared. When he was brought out of his cage to meet his prospective new owners, the first
thing he did was lay his head right in Rachel’s lap! It was meant to be! Rachel and Simon named
their new friend Seymour. After leaving the shelter, there was work to be done! Seymour was filthy,
sick, scared and he had a broken toe! He also had bite marks on his legs, two types of worms,
fleas, and ticks so large that the vet initially thought they were tumors! Poor Seymour! I’m happy to
say that with lots of tender loving care and vet visits, Seymour the Beagle is one happy pup! For the
first time in his life he has a forever loving home with toys, food and people that love him. He has
learned several tricks including play dead and shake. He loves to meet new people, as well as new
dog friends. Thank you Simon and Rachel for saving a dog on death row…..Seymour is one lucky
pup!

The lovable Seymour!
